Assistant Accountant

Glasgow

Based in our East Kilbride office, we are currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our small but dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts payable process, processing of monthly journal entries and taking a growing responsibility in the month end reporting process.


This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment as part of a team and individually. You will work closely with the direct team and various departmental heads, and external stakeholders, gaining hands-on experience with accounting systems and contributing to continuous improvements in financial processes


The role will also offer exposure to multiple areas of accounting and provides an opportunity to grow into a more senior finance role.

This role is office based with occasional travel to our other UK sites.


Responsibilities

·       Taking control of the end-to end accounts payable process.

·       Work to strict deadlines across all group companies.

·       Liaise with vendors, and other departments regarding invoice queries.

·       VAT Return completion and submission.

·       Management of employee expense claims and credit card processing.

·       Administration of financial accounting and reporting.

·       Assist in production of month end management accounts.

·       Provide ad-hoc analysis to assist management reporting.

·       Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.

·       Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

·       Drive process improvement in all job role areas.


Experience

·       Experience of working in a small finance function with particular emphasis on accounts payable.

·       A desire to progress your career within an accounting environment.

·       Strong IT skills and a desire to learn.

·       Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.

·       Familiarity with financial best practices.
