Project Overview
DorSuite were selected by Kier Construction as the doorset manufacturer for the NHS Golden Jubilee Surgical Centre in Clydebank. Working alongside Kier and IBI Group (Arcadis), DorSuite supplied 330 fully certified doorsets for Phase 2 of the hospital’s expansion. The project supports NHS Scotland’s efforts to increase surgical capacity, delivering critical services to patients across the region.
The Challenge
The Surgical Centre required a robust, high-performance doorset solution capable of supporting the demands of an intensive healthcare environment. This included resilience in high-traffic circulation areas and compliance with clinical standards for sensitive spaces. Specific requirements included PVC-wrapped ImpactSuite doorsets, fire-rated double swing doors with integrated access control, smoke-rated air transfer grilles, and automated systems for operating theatre access.
The DorSuite Solution
DorSuite provided a tailored combination of DesignSuite and ImpactSuite doors across the project.
DesignSuite doorsets incorporated a mix of white laminate doors with exposed oak lippings and oak flush beads, complemented by oak-veneered doors in selected areas. This approach ensured that while the doorsets met the clinical performance requirements, certain spaces benefited from a warmer, more welcoming aesthetic through the use of real woodgrain finishes.
ImpactSuite doors and frames were fully wrapped in a robust 2 mm Armoform PVC. This finish provides exceptional resistance to wear and damage in high-traffic areas, while supporting infection control requirements. The impervious surface offered an easy-to-clean, hygienic solution ideally suited to the demands of a modern healthcare environment.
Additional features included:
Cliniglaze flush vision panels to maintain infection control requirements.
A fully certified package of DorSuite Distinct Ironmongery, including integrated access control solutions.
20 automatic door operators, supplied, installed, and commissioned by DorSuite, covering cross-corridor doors and theatre entrances to support smooth and reliable staff access.
The Outcome
DorSuite’s comprehensive solution delivered high-performance, durable, and compliant doorsets tailored to the needs of a demanding healthcare environment. Fire and smoke safety, impact resistance, infection control, and accessibility were all key requirements fully met through the supply package.
Looking Forward
This project reinforces DorSuite’s position as a trusted partner for healthcare doorset solutions throughout the UK. By providing certified, durable, and design-led products, DorSuite continues to work closely with healthcare providers, architects, and contractors to meet the operational and regulatory demands of modern medical facilities.
